3 - Environmental Clubs (Example)

Every community needs champions for the environment.  In more and more communities, those champions are young people just like you.

You can take the lead in educating your peers as well as adults on key environmental challenges facing our planet, and show everyone what simple actions they can take to make things better.

Green Teens, USA is a great example of such a club.  After launching with seed funding from Ashoka GenV, Green Teens has organized events to promote the use of cloth bags, compact fluorescent bulbs, and biodegradable cups.

Who’s speaking for the environment in your community? Tell us how you might be a voice for the planet. Submit your idea.

If you already part of an environmental club at your school, tell us about your most successful activity to date. What success story can you share with others?

  • Hello,
My name is Chloe Maxmin from the Climate Action Club. We work on a variety of different projects which have included establishing a NO IDLE policy for our school, initiating a battery recycling campaign (4000 recycled so far), and working with local merchants to reduce the use of plastic bags in our town. We have actually been in contact with Green Teens USA and we exchange ideas and results.

The Climate Action Club is working on many other projects as well. Visit our website–http://laclimateaction.webs.com–to read more!
